Nightwater Factory Layout Guide

A useful Nightwater layout keeps sources, processors, storage and pipe lanes readable. Build one compact functional line, reserve space for its next branch and move one connected segment at a time. The official store says buildings can be moved or deconstructed without losing items, so the opening layout need not be permanent. This guide prioritizes inspectability and expansion; it does not claim measured footprints, ranges or optimal throughput.

Separate jobs while keeping flow visible

Keep the source and first receiver easy to identify, place processing nearby and leave access to the transport lane. Grouping by appearance can separate stages that need to be inspected together.

Reserve space around real demand

Leave room where the next input branch or processor will join. Expand when a line shows a shortage, then observe the original consumers again.

Sketch a major revision

The grid planner uses generic roles and checks collisions. Its cells are planning units, not verified in-game footprints. Reconnect and test each moved segment before the next change.

Put the plan to work

Place generic gatherers, assemblers, storage, pipes and utilities on a collision-checked planning grid.
